Cash out on Betfair

Cashing out can be an integral part of some of the betting strategies recommended by InsideTraxs.co.uk. In this video we show you an example of how to cash out and when you should be thinking of doing so and why cashing out can be the best option. The cash out feature on Betfair can be a useful and quick way to take profits or get out of bets which aren’t going to plan. It should be remembered that it is a “service” and as such you will not get entirely the odds that you see on screen. To get the odds you want you must specify this and then have your bet matched. Cashing out offers a quick alternative.

  1. Why would the Cash Out leave you with a £1.80 loss? With the prices you got (Back @2.5, Lay @3.2) you could have cashed out for just a £1.59 loss.

    Back Bet: Odds 2.5 | Stake £5 | Profit £7.50
    Lay Bet: Odds 3.2 | Backers Stake £3.41 | Liability £7.50

If Across Dubai does sprout wings after all, you make nothing (£7.50 – £7.50). But, if anyone else wins, then your loss is just £1.59 (£5.00 – £3.41), which I think is optimal as at this point your are looking to cut your losses.

I know it is only 21p, but as you increase your stakes or number of bets, those small amounts start to add up.

So is Betfair's algorithm not optimised, or are they purposely building a little margin for themselves each time someone cashes out?
