what about the betfair commission , you won 3.20 but after 5% commission you won 3.04, so your loss is -1.96, not -1.80 , right ?
Why would the Cash Out leave you with a £1.80 loss? With the prices you got (Back @2.5, Lay @3.2) you could have cashed out for just a £1.59 loss.
Back Bet: Odds 2.5 | Stake £5 | Profit £7.50
Lay Bet: Odds 3.2 | Backers Stake £3.41 | Liability £7.50
If Across Dubai does sprout wings after all, you make nothing (£7.50 – £7.50). But, if anyone else wins, then your loss is just £1.59 (£5.00 – £3.41), which I think is optimal as at this point your are looking to cut your losses.
I know it is only 21p, but as you increase your stakes or number of bets, those small amounts start to add up.
So is Betfair's algorithm not optimised, or are they purposely building a little margin for themselves each time someone cashes out?
