  1. 4:34 can back this, before getting serious in my trades I spent countless hours collecting data and building criteria, staring at the markets and understanding what's happening took some sweet time but sure it is paying out, dedication almost always pays out

13:21 that's almost 60% of return which is more than decent for a pre-race trade, getting a 100 stake matched there was more than possible, liquidity was decent. Really good examples, Caan, well appreciated

I have a question that is hard to answer: when UK racing resumes do you think that american and australian racing will keep this liquidity? I truly hopes it does

  2. I do love watching a good trader in action, it's like watching a good footballer demonstrating his skills. I've tried guessing market directions in this manner innumerable times over the past 12 years and can only hit a strike rate of 33%, without having very precise parameters, very impressive performance.

  3. Thanks, i found the beginning education but when you moved to the software with the columns you lost me. Anywhere i can get a 'treat my like a 2 yo' tutorial on it?

  4. I have to admit I've watched this video and have no idea what's happening. I don't know what you're doing and not sure how this trading horse races can make you money. I'm lost, is there any advice you can offer that can help clear this up for me?

  5. There's a company called Newfields, based in the Isle of Man. There an Australian company and their main thing is trading the Australian tote and Belfair. Especially Australian horse racing. They only trade it 20 mins out and stop 5 mins before the off, and its quite easy once you've seen some money go from weak traders when they fancy something.

  6. Don't rely on the Betfair live feed for info on any races let alone Australian races. Unlike their U.K. counterparts, the radio coverage of Australian racing will keep you up to date with what is going on at the start (barriers) across all the major meeting from the one coverage. There is also plenty of free live televised coverage should you want to put up with a slight delay and use a VPN, pre race, mounting yard and on the way to the barriers. I would like to give you other tips on how to utilise info. on Australian racing but it's not for everyone.

  7. Is it just me or are any other GeeksToy users out there having problems getting BF live feeds thru via the software itself? I have to get all mu UK/Ire live racing feeds via BF website now, GT just don't wanna know.

  8. At 19 mins when the live video won't start up I use two ways to get around this. If you are prepared to take the risk of quickly closing the market window and re-opening it, then re-start the live video I find more often that not this solves it. Second way is while you are using Geeks toy, log yourself on directly into the standard betfair website at the same time as a sage guard and click on live stream of the race directly from within their web platform.

  9. Hi Caan! Very important question about Aussie markets – I started to trade pre (previously UK, IRE races inplay from lay side for 6 years) and encountered not a pleasant moments – some races in AUS after they finish – you don't get anything – I mean if you have green or red – Betfair doesnt count it to your "bill" – how could this happen? have you encountered smth. like this yourself and is there a logical explanation? (I encountered this like 5 times in couple previous days of trading)

  10. Question in regards to- Placing offers in the market behind trailing the trend, close to the start of a race..

@12.43 even though the genuine supporting money on the favourite was pushing the price downwards, as denoted by the dark green bars- are spikes in markets such as the Australian markets less likely to bounce all the way back against your open position, into a red (loss) zone?

Other examples in the video would be @8.03 & 10.11 & more.

@8.03 if the spike bounced back down, all of the offered lay bets trailing the trend could have been matched, causing a loss? how do you predict when to trade the trend rather than the bounce. Again, is trading the trend more of a lower liquidity (Aus/US) market strategy?

  11. Say Caan – what about the swedish races? do you trade them too in these times of limited trading oportunities. If you trade them also is there a chance you make a vid on them too (well if there is a point in doing so)

  12. Thank you for this very helpful video. Excellent run through of the strategies to use. 'Fair Dinkum' as the Aussies would same.

  13. The main tracks in Australia
Melbourne: Flemington, Moonee Valley, Caulfield and Sandown (more midweek)
Sydney: Rosehill and Randwick sometimes Canterbury
    Adelaide: Morphetville
    Brisbane: Eagle Farm and Doomben
Perth: Ascot (2 or 3 hours later than others because of timezones)

Generally on Saturday those first 4 states operate on a rolling 40 minutes schedule ie
    Melbourne 3pm
    Brisbane 3.10pm
    Sydney 3.20pm
    Adelaide 3.30pm
    then back to Melbourne

Other days racing is a "travelling circus" that goes from country town to country town. Wednesday races are typically city based however. Next week is Warrnambool (some jumps + some flat) so for those 2 days (normally 3 but Coronavirus) turnover should be up for a midweek.

  14. how come you are using the old api settings, they have the faster push streaming on Geekstoy which is less lag isnt it?
    thanks for the video

  15. Did my first trade today, classic lay the draw strat of course 😅 worked a treat, in and out in 5mins with 6 quid profit

  16. Really useful video thanks. Do you have any plans to include an Australian market module in the tutorial pack and also provide powerpoint links of the slides. Some of us have spent a life time using them to write notes on during training sessions?

  17. Great vid as usual. The first race you say you're "offering money outside the traded prices " , however it looks to me like you're chasing the price up ? At slow speed you actually take a price at 2.16 , 2.18 and 2.20. The money left lower is your money that missed the entry. Am I missing something ? Appreciate help.

  18. Hi Caan. In the second strategy you state at one point "the money is pouring in on the back side" – how do you tell? I can see the bars, etc. but how do you know whether this is backing or laying? Thanks in advance for your help mate👍

  19. Probably the best thing about lockdown, is having the time to watch videos like this and study the markets in more detail. Great work mate 👍

  20. Hi Caan, I’ve been trading for a quite a while now and I am doing really well. However, I wanted to ask a question, I know it depends on circumstances and situations etc, but how many ticks do you allow your trades to run into a negative position before exiting? (These will be variable as each trade is different I know) just an estimate?
Keep up the good work, you give us some decent pointers! 👌

  21. That was a great video Caan and there was a point in this video that made me realise something about when to back a horse, it's all slowly coming together for me all this trading stuff.

  22. Well done Caan. I am based in New Zealand so trade the Oz races. They seem to very quite different to the UK races which all trading courses seem to revolve around. The low volume is hard to trade as is the very short period of time to trade in. Thank you for spending the time to make these videos.

  23. hi caan, I've been caught out a few times trading the Aussie racing, I've waited to take sp on a couple runners both the fav one example the horse has drifted from 3s out to 6s on one occasion 2 seconds before the off and surprise surprise it misses the break went straight out to 11s i/r I try to get out 30 seconds before the clock now. someone is beating the clock maybe someone at the track or someone with fast data so I hope everyone aware and don't make the same mistake as me. if Betfair live video not working you can use tab radio it's a second quicker than Betfair live but 5 seconds behind live covers all the tracks in Australia great video keep up the good work.

  24. Hi Caan – Always brilliant content from you, but have a look at your light blue/ dark blue, (effort/ result) graphic, i'm not sure it's right…. but you'll always be my hero mate, on lots of levels. Stay Safe. x

  25. Good points, been in this for about a month, probably not the best time to have started. I prefer US markets generally but using AUS for practice. Cant wait for UK to start again. Had a free trial of geeks toy, like it. Did the trial account to get used to software, the only issue to be careful of is that is you can have an oversized unrealistic bank which isn't real and can IMHO breed bad practice, if you use it set the bank to 200 and use 2 to 5 stakes and try and imagine it's real money. Even using a small bank the transition to real money seems to throw some strategies out the window.

  26. Hi Caan, when it comes to horse racing is it possible to see what the opening price of a horse is on the exchange? I know how to open the graphs for each horse but it's not always clear what price the horse has opened at the night previous, any help would be much appreciated, thanks.
